Recipe Smoothie: For Health And Energy

The easiest way to get more fruit and vegetables into your diet is by having a daily smoothie. If you struggle to find time in the morning for a nutritional breakfast then try having a healthy breakfast recipe smoothie instead.

You can prep all your ingredients in ziplock bags and freeze them. Simply grab what you need in the morning, blend them up and you're ready to go. Smoothies are also great as an afternoon pick me up before a workout or to stop you grabbing that naughty 3pm sugar fix. Even the most fussy of kids will never say no to a beautiful fresh smoothie. Its the perfect way to hide those green vegetables that normally get pushed aside. Frozen fruit works best so prep a week's worth of smoothies that the whole family can enjoy. Below are ten of our favorites for you to enjoy. Mix them up and create your own favorite.

Detox Green Smoothie

If you choose only one smoothie to have regularly then this should be it. Full of antioxidants it's a great way to start the day. Kids love it and they'll have no idea there's spinach in it. Blend and enjoy.

Green Apple, Spinach and Mint Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup chilled Original Almond Milk
  • 1 cup baby spinach leaves
  • 1 granny smith apple, chopped (core & seeds discarded)
  • 1/3 cup mint leaves
  • Juice of 1 small lime
  • 1 tablespoon white chia seeds
  • Handful of ice

Anti inflammatory Recipe Smoothie

Including turmeric in your daily smoothie will act as a natural anti inflammatory. Great for people who suffer from aches and pain and stiff joints. Adding Mango to this smoothie gives in a pleasant sweet taste.

Turmeric Mango Recipe Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 bananas, broken into chunks
  • 165g frozen mango chunks
  • 2 tablespoons cashew butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 cups (500ml) water

3pm Afternoon Pick Me Up

If you find yourself reaching for that chocolate bar or sugary drink in the mid afternoon, stop and try this great smoothie instead. It not only tastes great but will give you that sustained energy to get you through to Dinner time.

Coffee Java Protein Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • ½ cup cold coffee
  • 1 scoop Chocolate protein powder
  • 1 Tbsp mini chocolate chips (these aren't essential)

Dessert For Breakfast

Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too. Just now, you can sip it through a straw without the guilt. You can have this delicious smoothie anytime of the day but with the addition of rolled oats you will feel fuller for longer so breakfast time would be perfect. Kids would love this treat as an after school snack.

Cinnamon Roll Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup vanilla almond milk

1/2 cup vanilla Greek yogurt

1/4 cup old fashioned oats

1 Tablespoon brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1 frozen banana (or fresh banana, but add in 3-4 ice cubes with fresh)

Hidden Goodness

I've left the best for last. If you love avocado like me then this smoothie will become your firm favorite. LSA is rich in proteins and good for your heart and also helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Nut And Cacao Smoothie

  • 1 cup chilled Original Almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon cacao powder
  • 1 small ripe banana, peeled
  • 1/4 small ripe avocado, flesh removed
  • 1 tablespoon LSA
